one ohio voter told "usa today" "obama is trying to get out the message. don't bother voting because it's over with. i got it." another republican voter on the ground said i think the polls are screwed and skewed. screwed and skewed. that's pretty rough language but leave it to rush limbaugh to take it one step further. >> polls now are just being used as another tool of voter suppression. the polls are an attempt to not reflect public opinion but to shape it. yours! depress the heck out of you. >> jennifer: suppress the vote? that's the republican's job. for more on the story i'm joined by mayor marc morial, president of the national urban league and a tremendous voice in the fight against voter suppression. mayor comes to us from new york. so great to have you inside "the war room" tonight. >> hey, great to be with you governor. congratulations on the show and congratulations on the strength of your voice. >> jennifer: i appreciate you saying that. it is when all of us blending our voices together, maybe we can get something done. so are you encouraged b

president obama has an advantage. but his vote has to come out. i remember in the kerry campaign in 2004, we had this enormous rally, all of this momentum. it looked like ohio was going to change the outcome of the election. it ended up where bush flipped it on election day. it was shocking. also on election day i remember back to 2000 where the gore campaign wrote off ohio. the election tightened considerably to where they regretted that they didn't play in ohio right up until the end. so ohio can break your heart. it can resurrect your campaign. my advice to president obama is not just keep coming to ohio which is good that he is. i think he's been to ohio already 29 times but also the ground game, get the vote out. that's really going to be the determining factor. >> jennifer: well, for sure. and there's a lot of reports out there that the republican ground game is extremely strong as well. so nobody can take anything for granted. one of the interesting tensions on the republican side is the sort of schism between what mitt romney is selling in

on what he calls president obama's lies. do you think that makes him hyper subject to scrutiny because of the hypocrisy. >> that's what i was wondering. karl rove wrote a piece about how they have to go after the president's untruths. the problem he has got right now is that he cannot explain his program. he will not go into any kind of detail of his secret plan to balance this budget and get the economy on track because there is no plan. you know, if you look at the situation, it would -- he -- he says he is going to increase defense spending. he says he is going to give us all a $5 trillion tax cut or at least the wealthy people and balance the budget. that doesn't take an act of congress. it takes magic. >> jennifer: all right. you are in his war room prepping him for debates, and you know you are going to get this question. how does the math work? what loopholes, deductions will you close or reduce? what would you advise him? >> there are over 200 tax deductions we have out there. his $5 trillion tax increases would cost

they really still want this to be about barack obama. you are going to hear i think at this debate -- and duf is correct -- you have will hear more from romney about himself and make himself a little bit more likable, but you will hear about his policies for the future. but the main thing i think these folks are going to concentrate on is if you like the last four years, boy oh boy you will love the next four. >> jennifer: right. >> they will try to make this more about the president. >> jennifer: what i think is going to be interesting on this, duf is if mitt romney is going to focus on the things that truly have been debunked before then he is going to be in a very awkward position, when he says he is going to prove that what the president said is a lie. >> i think really what is more important is that he is going to point out, look, president obama promised us that unemployment wouldn't be this high -- >> jennifer: that's another lie. he didn't promise that it was going to be 8% or less -- >> just christine roamer his chief economic -

this one where obama says he's not done lying yet. but if he is a liar, technically that means he is done lying. and there's this one with karl marx and an empty chair saying the only known photo of karl marx and president obama. that one is kind of funny. according to the "washington post," the man behind the photos is a 55-year-old retired flight crew member. worst flight attendant ever! thank you for flying the friendly skies. how would you like your coffee and don't say black. he told reporters "we don't racist." >> speaking personally, facebook should not be a place for party officials to post racist photos of our president that make me feel bad about our country. it should remain a sacred place where ex-girlfriends post pictures of themselves looking happier and slightly more attractive than they were when i dated them and to make me feel bad about myself. i'm done talking now. >> jennifer: all right. someone's always in our war room. check us out online on current.com/"the war room." that's where you can link up to our twitter
